Description:
FPC Bangor is working with an industry leader in paper manufacture looking for a Procurement Specialist. The Procurement Specialist facilitates the development and implementation of specific category sourcing strategies aimed at significantly reducing category spend totals, primarily for the pulping and paper making chemicals.
Responsibilities include:
· analyzing commodity spend data so as to be able to define spend subgroups.
· developing subgroup sourcing strategies intended to ensure ongoing supply and to minimize spending
· oversee all efforts to implement such strategic initiatives and for reporting the results of these activities at a corporate level
· must develop a high level of technical expertise for the materials and services in question and how they are used
· must develop and utilize a high level market expertise
Requirements:
· Procurement background with 4-5 years experience is desirable, but strong candidates with less procurement experience will be considered as long as they can demonstrate skills to quickly learn and apply procurement principles.
· Good understanding of economic principles and knowledge of state of the economy. Clear thinking around how this affects chemical commodities and supply/ demand situations. Ability to develop specific category expertise to understand product specs, applications, and marketplace dynamics.
· Ability to act as the category point of contact for customers and for strategic suppliers. Ability to develop the appropriate strategic supplier business relationships
· Ability to learn purchasing budgets: setting and meeting them.
· Negotiation skills: ability to develop strategy and best alternatives.
Education/Certification/Work Experience Required:
¨ Technical and/or business degree, advanced business degree preferred
¨ 1-5years of procurement experience with positions of increasing scope and responsibility
Ability to get certified in procurement discipline
